“State Asylum! Cut this hideous story out of her brain!”

One of the trademark gothic plays of master American playwright, Tennessee Williams.

In Williams’ darkly poetic drama, young socialite Catherine Holly, has been committed to an asylum, a er witnessing her cousin Sebastian’s sudden and violent death in Europe last summer. Her aunt, New Orleans matriarch, Violet Venable, will stop at nothing to prevent Catherine from revealing

the bizarre details of her poet-son’s death – especially the suggestion that he was homosexual.

Violet ruthlessly proceeds to bribe young neurosurgeon,
Dr Cukrowicz, to perform a lobotomy on her niece – to “cut the story from her brain”. But the doctor is determined to discover the truth about Catherine’s story before taking any action.

A special one-night-only staged playreading of a brilliant drama, similar to this year’s sell-out reading of Alan Seymour’s e One Day of the Year.
